Cat Health Issues Are Unique

We love cats! At The Heights Veterinary Clinic we know that cats are unique members of our families and deserve special attention. Cats are especially adept at hiding pain and appearing symptom free until it is too late to intervene.

We recommend annual exams until they are 9 years old and, thereafter, biannual exams to ensure diseases are caught early in order to make a difference in their quality of life. Some of the more common diseases that we routinely treat include lower urinary tract diseases, upper respiratory diseases, skin allergies, chronic renal disease, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, heart disease, and dental disease.

Maintaining your cat’s oral health is particularly important for their longevity and the prevention of spreading bacteria to other organ systems. We also know that cats don’t love coming to the vet office. We are happy to take the time to discuss options to reduce their stress level, so they can get the care they need and deserve.

At The Heights Veterinary Clinic, we take additional measures to reduce their stress, including the use of pheromone sprays and diffusers for calming, leaving them in their carriers for exams when appropriate, having windows in the exam rooms and providing treats for distraction. We look forward to meeting your cats and kittens and playing an integral role in their health care.
