The Heights Veterinary Clinic was founded in 2020 by Dr. Eric Mondschein, DVM, MPH, CVA, CCRT in Tampa, FL. Born and raised in Miami Beach, FL, he spent his childhood surrounded by animals and always believed in becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. Mondschein attended the University of Florida from 1999-2003, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Dr. Mondschein attended Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine from 2003-2007. During this time he earned both his DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) and MPH (Master in Public Health) degrees.
From 2007-2008, he completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners (Formerly Florida Veterinary Specialists) in Tampa, FL. From 2008 - 2012. Dr. Mondschein worked in New York City as a relief veterinarian, an emergency veterinarian, and as a part-time associate veterinarian at two animal hospitals in Brooklyn.
Dr. Mondschein then became certified in veterinary acupuncture at the Chi Institute in Florida. In March 2012, his wife took a unique opportunity to work overseas in Graz, Austria where they lived for one year traveling and exploring Europe. In March 2013, Dr. Mondschein moved back to Tampa, FL and worked at a number of animal hospitals as a relief veterinarian.
Dr. Mondschein has taken courses in Chinese herbal medicine and became certified in Canine Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy in 2016. He lives in Tampa with his wife, Wendy, their two children, and their adopted puppy, Charley. He enjoys spending quality time with his family, watching his kids grow up, and Gator football!
Dr. Mondschein loves utilizing the best of traditional Western medicine and numerous integrative therapies to optimize the treatments he can offer his patients.
